Chapter 1: Creating Your Social Media Strategy

There are many different strategies that can be implemented when creating your social media presence. I am going to focus on the one of a Public Relations Firm. Since PR pro’s must market themselves, as well as their clients here are the tactics the author this book suggest:
~Blogging: post addresses of issues/companies within the industry
~Social Networking: maintain profiles on facebook, linkedin, and twitter
~Social Bookmarking and Crowd-Sourcing: contribute to these regularly
~Media Commnities: possess accounts in both Flickr and YouTube
~Widgets & Badgets: use these to reflect your presence online
~Social Media Newsroom: this should reflect your online presence and be a venue for media coverage to be featured.

Chapter 2: Preparation

~try to make a list of atleast 20 possible tags
~before creating your profile ask yourself two things:
1. What “entity” am I representing?
2. What person within my organization will represent me in the social web?
~This should be included in online “entity”
-Name
-Tagline
-Short Description
-Long Description
-Website URL
-Year entity was found
-Mission Statement
-Product list
-Gender and Birthdate
-Logo
~Make sure to compose a list of places where you already have entities in the social media
~Gather info from previous excerpts from websites, papers you have written, articles you have published, and book excerpts for possible blog posts.
